Weihai Ziguang actively undertakes social responsibility and carries out the mission of agricultural science and technology innovation. The fig seed project is an important carrier of this mission, which is not only related to the growth of the output value of figs, but also carries the grand vision of scientific and technological development of agriculture and rural revitalisation.
On 11th January, the start meeting of "Agricultural Seed Engineering" project of Shandong Key R&D Programme was held in Weihai Ziguang. President Yu Lianjia and Vice President Wu Dejun of Shandong Academy of Forestry, Deputy Director Wang Junwei of Weihai Municipal Science and Technology Bureau, Director Chen Lin of Economic Zone Science and Innovation Bureau, and Section Chief Ju Chuanlong of Weihai Forestry Bureau attended the start meeting, while researcher Liu Qingzhong of Shandong Shandong Fruit Tree Research Institute, Associate Director Su Jiaming of Yantai Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Associate Professor Zhang Chunmei of Shandong Agricultural University, General Manager of Weihai Ziguang Science and Technology Park Company Limited, Mr Li Nieping, as well as the project leader and the subject leaders and the main R & D staff of nearly 30 people also attended the meeting.
The meeting gathered experts and scholars in the field of agricultural science and technology to discuss the development direction and implementation path of the agricultural seed project. As the leading company, Weihai Ziguang introduced the construction plan and implementation programme of fig project in detail at the meeting, showing the company's active role in agricultural science and technology innovation and rural revitalization strategy.
Industrial Empowerment Creates a Fig Industry Highland
In order to help figs go out of Weihai and solve the problem of fig storage, Weihai Ziguang invested in the in-depth development of fig industry in 2010, and has built more than 10,000 square metres of fig temperature-controlled experimental bases to create a high-standard and high-efficiency fig planting base. Through the integration of one and two industries, it has built more than 20,000 square feet of standardised fig production workshop, introduced advanced production equipment and technology, researched and listed more than 50 types of fig products in 13 categories, such as fig wine, fig tea, fig jam, fig pulp, fig drink, etc., and processed more than 1,000 tonnes of figs annually, which has now become the main force of rural revitalisation empowered by featured agriculture.
Deepening cooperation and building a community for rural revitalisation
In order to serve for the strategy of rural revitalisation, Weihai Ziguang has always adhered to open cooperation, and has worked with the National Academy of Forestry, the Academy of Agricultural Sciences, the Shandong Academy of Forestry, the Academy of Agricultural Sciences, the Institute of Fruit Tree Research and other 17 scientific research institutes, and more than 20 colleges and universities across the country, such as Beijing Forestry University, Shandong Forestry University, to form a strong scientific research synergy, to accelerate the transformation and application of scientific and technological achievements, and to build up a multi-party, mutually beneficial and win-win rural revitalisation community, and to continuously improve its own scientific and technological innovation capabilities, and to contribute to the construction of modernisation of agriculture.

As a fig deep-processing enterprise, Weihai Ziguang introduces advanced planting technology and management mode, to solve the key technology, major new varieties and other problems through scientific and standardised planting means, and to promote new varieties of fig planting, new technology, new knowledge into the field, to provide long-term technical services and consulting platforms for the farmers, and to promote the farmers to increase their production and increase the income and drive the farmers to increase their income and become rich, so that the farmers can share the results of science and technology.
